I’ll stand with my brothas. But I’ll never stand with them to stand against my sistas.
This is important
"I will not set fire to myself to keep you warm"
black people taking selfies and posting them online means normalizing black skin and black beauty! it means redefining what is beautiful and acceptable! it means getting our faces out there to be appreciated and loved without needing to wait to be called by a casting director for a movie, tv show, or fashion show! it’s self-love of everything they told us was ugly!
WE’RE FINE AS HELL AND WE’RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE
man selfies are self-care fuck anyone who says you take too many pics of yourself TAKE ALLLLLL THE PICS OF YOURSELF look at yourself and appreciate yourself and love yourself physically too
Honestly.. When PoC get to an age where they are able to deeply realize and internalize how intensely and directly racism affects them, as well as able to recognize the little racial microaggressions against them, it truly IS a traumatic experience. Its draining and depressing and painful and scarring. It can very easily make you lose the will to do anything or dream anything. And that is something that whites will never experience, thus never understand how deep this goes.
